See The Ships
during the reign of D. João VI and Carlota Joaquina

1807, November. Almost at the gates of Lisbon, Napoleon's troops threaten to capitulate the King,
as has happened throughout Europe and even with neighboring Spain
with whom he had previously formed a coalition.
At the D. João VI office, he meets with his advisers. You have to decide whether to enter the Continental Blockade decreed by Napoleon against the British, or to set out on a journey never taken by a European monarch with the support of the "always present and old allies".
In Lisbon, capital of the kingdom, it runs wildly. Finally, the long-thought-out and long-delayed decision was made. The court will set out on an unprecedented trip. The Queen, the Prince Regent, the Princess his wife, the princes and princesses, ministers, advisers, treasurers, secretaries, almslers, mayors, clerks, servants, silverware, books, gold, pictures, porcelain are transferred to the other ocean side.
Thus begins the show that tells the great adventure of D. João VI
and your entire court in Brazil. It tells how it was and why it was.
The cast has 22 string puppets that represent D. João, D. Carlota, D. Maria, the sons D. Pedro and D. Miguel, the Counselors D. Rodrigo de Sousa Coutinho, António Araújo and Azevedo, William Beresford, Lord Strangford, among others, and how it could not fail to be Napoleon Bonaparte.
The narrative begins with the departure of the court for Brazil and its impact on the life of the colony, returning for a moment to Portugal and the Peninsular Wars, to again return to the adventures of the daily life of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarve across the Ocean. In the end we will have D. Pedro who stays and Napoleão who confesses to having been deceived.
It is also noteworthy the great rigor in making the puppet costumes
as well as scenarios and scenic structures that are based on originals of the time.
